Pentathonic scale



A pentatonic scale is a musical scale or mode with five notes. Examples of use of pentatonic scales include melodies of Korea, Laos, Thailand, Malasya, Japan , China and Vietnam.

 

In China the number five is sacred. There are five
elements – fire, earth, water, wood and metal. There are
five kinds of grain and five kinds of love. Many Chinese
tunes are composed from the scale of five notes. This
scale is called Pentatonic.
